au·tot·o·my/ôˈtädəmē/noun
- the casting off of a part of the body (e.g. the tail of a lizard) by an animal under threat
What parts of ourselves or our world do we, or should we,
cast off when under threat?
Do we hold on tight and never give in
at the expense of our health and well-being?
Or do we take a deep breath…..
and let it go?
At what point do we just say, “NO!”
May we learn from the lizard
as she lets go of her tail…
Sometimes when we can cast things off,
It helps us live and grow and thrive.
